Tip #1. Connect to the Audience First
The sooner you connect to your audience’s needs, the sooner they will be willing to listen to what you have to say. Organizing your communication to speak to their needs first will help you connect with your audience more effectively. The following questions to assist in crafting an opening paragraph.
First Sentence:
Why should the audience care to read your message?
Second Sentence:
How can the subject of the message apply to them?
Third Sentence:
What is it that you are asking them to do?
These questions can help you communicate your point more quickly. By addressing the first question, you work towards having more people engaged at the onset. The second question keeps them intrigued. The final question gives them action.
