Not So Fast…
So many people are in a rush – to get somewhere, to get something done, to clear their list of things to do. We live in an efficiency driven world. This is understandable, as it gives us the satisfaction of accomplishing something. My struggles with this are when people are so focused on getting the item done, rather than on getting it done well. How many times do we check something off of our list as done that was not done up to our capabilities?
It should be normal to give yourself the time needed to think to make smarter decisions. I am not suggesting that every decision needs to be pondered, rather I believe that if there are added risks or lost opportunities if a task is underperformed, then take the time to do it right.
Admittedly this is nothing new. But then again, what really is new? Taking time to do things well gives us a sense satisfied accomplishment, rushing through can leave us feeling unfulfilled. Make yourself happy, and smell the roses.
